edmondsallan - Good morning to all . this journal is learning more about " Rahiri " one of our original maori ancesters. May I respectfully suggest to many " European cussies " with NZ " Edmonds " ancestory , learn more on some of the great men , of both races , who we are related to .
" Rahiri " one of our first " Maori Chief's " to develope the
" Ngapuhi" tribe . This tribe was & still is one of the most powerful tribes in NZ. Many early europeans settling in NZ , married into their family blood lines . Today , many many of us are distantly related , and do not know it . If you are one of these kiwis ,don't hide it , you can hold your head up high, as you are a part of a very proud people .
" Rahiri " A paramount chief of the Ngapuhi married four (4 ) times. His wives were - " Ahuaiti & Whakaruru " of the Ngapuhi. He also married " Moetonga " of who's decendants lived in Waipoua Forest, south of Hokianga. At a later date again , " Rahiri " also married " Paru " whose descendants lived along the Coast between Whangaruru and Whangarei.
This deep thinking , far reaching , looking into the future
" Paramount Ngapuhi Chief " Travelled far, in early NZ, to unite the maori people . " Rahiri "travelled from " Whiria " Hokianga to Auckland , Te Aroha , Whakatane , The East coast ( Gisborne area ), Wellington , Taranaki. Many of these peoples in these area's are linked to the " Ngapuhi's " Some day when you are relaxing , make a cuppa , take a look at a North Island Map and follow his journeys . With his followers , he travelled most of this huge distants by foot & some times by canoe, living off the land until they came to their next unknown to them , maori settlement . If we really think about this great chief , and what he did ," He was a man among men in any body's language " Ok . Lets some of us step over the imaginary line quite bit more . Or have we forgotten . " the Edmonds Family , and their ancestry is one of the largest in New Zealand and we are as one , whether anyone likes the fact or not " till we meet again - regards - edmondsallan
