I am trying to find documentation as to who are the parents of Ansel (Jesse Ansel (Ancil, Ansell, Ausel, Asel) McGill. Reported to be John H McGill and Rachel Lusk Can find no documentation of such and reasonable doubt that this is the case.
Lucinda Roper is reported to be the daughter of Mariam Roper and is included in a will but no father is mentioned. Marium is in 1840 census as head of household.

Lucinda Caroline Roper is the wife of Jesse Ansel McGill. Her mother was Miriam Roper. Her brother was Crafton Roper. Father is unknown. Jesse Ansel is my GG Grandfather. I was named after him. My name is Jessie Sandra. I was doing a google search for him when I found this. I don't have parents for him. 1850-60-70 & 1880 census reports all have her listed as his wife. In census 1860 spelling of his name is Ansell McGill Acil Magil ,1870 Census has him as Ancil Mcgill, 1880 is Ausel Mcgill. Lucinda died in 1889 and he remarried in 1892 to Hannah Crittendos.
