The only Joan POLKINGHORNE I could find arriving in Victoria was on the Mindoro in October 1857, aged 28 years. This seems to fit with her age at marriage.

There was only one John POLKINGHORNE arriving around this time and he arrived on the Donald McKay in December 1856, aged 20 years.
A bit young for John but ...
