John Rainnie(farmer)Andrewsford,Fyvie,Aberdeenshire,Scotland were the parents of George Rainnie born 1791 and William born 1793 ( my line). George was an advocate practising in Edinburgh and Aberdeen where he trained. He was the eldest son of John and Margaret. William the next born was also a farmer at Andrewsford George married Jane Smith (nee Arthur) from Stonehaven near Aberdeen. Their children were James Rennie 1816 , Mary Arthur 1819 - 1872, George 1826 , and Jane 1831 . George 1826 married Jemima Anderson McDIARMID in Edinburgh 1844. Jemima died 23 December 1852 in Edinburgh a few days after her twin sons were born. Their children were:-
1. Margaret Donaldson Rainnie 1845-1868 she married Robert FALCONER Writer in STONEHAVEN, they had a daughter Maggie who died when weeks old and they are buried in Stonehaven.
2. George (Jn.) who went to Australia and died at Colac,Melbourne. I have been unable to trace any other information except that he inherited the estate of his aunt Mary(nee Smith) Arthur in Stonehaven who was quite a wealthy woman, she died in the early 1880's in Stonehaven and the property she owned still stands today. Also Margaret Falconer his sister husband's company of Kinnear and Falconer is still running in Stonehaven today.
3. George 1847-
4. Jane Catherine 1849-1887 once a governess died Garston,Lancashire,England.
5. William Bowack 1851-1937 died Edinburgh Solicitor of the Supreme Courts. I have just recently found his grand daughter. Buried Edinburgh.
6. + John Arthur 1852-
7. + James Muckle1852-1923 Westham,Essex,England (ships captain). He is the person who registered his aunts death in Stonehaven
+ The twins.
Mary Arthur sister of Jane Rainnie husband George Arthur was Supervisor of Excise and was murdered in CAMPBELLTOWN,Argyle c.1817
details of Mary can be found in the census 1841-1881 in Market Square,Stonehaven her father is also living with her in the 1841 census.
I do hope that someone some where in the Victoria area may recognise some of these names and I wowuld be very pleased if I got a response. Lesley Norrie
