George Henry RANKIN b:7 May 1919 at Dyreeba Creek the son of Henry Ernest RANKIN 1890-1956 and Margarite,nee PEARCE 1903-1945. Died as a Prisoner of the Japanese on the 28 April 1945 at the Sandakan POW Camp in North Borneo. His brother Charles Frederick b: 12 October 1920 at Dyraaba Creek had also died there 6 months before as a POW on the 18 April 1945.
The original George RANKIN 1818-1863 of this family had arrived from Drumkeeran,Fermanagh, Ireland in 1838 He was killed when a tree fell on him at Bolivia Station.

Can anyone help me with the name of Elizabeth Rankin who married a John Sharpe. They had a son Thomas Cowan Sharpe who married a Rachel Mabel Mary MCDonald who was born in Invercargill, NZ
