I don't know about Zimbawe and the " Evershed " ancestral name . My other research to assist you is mostly Documentation ( only 90 % )proven so be careful in looking at this copied & pasted journal with a sample page for you to peruse . Their is also a couple of other examples - Hope it may assist you . It is as follows

" EVERSHED " - early origins I believe started in Normandy - France - before AD .
Spelling variations - Evershed / Evershead / Evershad / Eversheed and many more -
Records / documentation : they " Evershed's " were first became known in
'OCKLEY ' Surrey - England in the census taken in for the Doomsday Book in
> 1086 < AD - at that point in time held a " Family " seat as " Lords of the Manor of Eversheds Fram in Ockley . this was granted to them after the " Battle of Hastings " as a reward for services Rendered ( I think the Eversheds themselves plus some of the small force they raised to assist the Duke William defeat King Harold ) The grant to the " Evershed's " was recorded in the Doomesday Book and included the words -- QUOTE " the holders registered would hold the land to the end of time " unquote.

our nz records Show a " Evershed - surgeon - related to the Ockley ancestry ariving in Auckland - approximately in the mid - 1800's

Their are Evershed Family Crests, Shields , mottos , etc which of them is the genuine ones ( because of commercialization )-

If you wish to proceed further in your research on this name , lords, landholdings etc may I suggest you contact the " surrey national library " I believe ( told to me by a ' fellow genealogist ' they have an excellent
ancestral Department - including the " Eversheds " )
