I am a distant relation of Captain George Harrison the boat sunk and 21 lives lost in 1841. Does anyone know who he married the moari woman was this woman Hannah Smith?

hi desiree,
you have misspelled Maori in your headings & journal
also, their 12 month old son Robert, survived the shipwreck (along with the Captain)

Yes was tired.. with the misspelling.. I found out about the shipwreck on the 31st August hit a sandbar in the Kaipara Harbour. Captain George Harrison (Sophia Pate) was apparently put in prison for hurting a mans hands who was Wilkinson senior who held onto the gunwale of the boat, by forcing him to release his grip when attempting to get into the boat. 21 lives were lost His wife died and his child lived called Robert. Where they first landed in NZL , they were told that the Kaipara Harbour had not been documented properly for sandbars and that, it could be dangerous to continue the captain offered to pay for their travel across land firstly but the vote was to carry on and not to do that. My Grandmothers name was Audrey Eunice Dufty she married Harold William Booth in 1925. Her mother was Hannah (nee Pryor) Dufty spoke Fluent maori and her husband William Dufty was with the maori landcourts in Hauraki Thames NZL. Her mothers name was Mary Ann Smith and her mother was Hannah ? this is where it gets lost...this may have been the woman who was taken by Captain George Harrison from a Marae somewhere in Auckland. Do not know if these connect with you .. Thank you , Desiree Fielder ( nee Booth)
