I do not know the dates as I am not that far on my Davis research yet.

"Big" John Davis rumored to have married an Indian off of the "Trail of Tears.

his son was Samuel Oscar Davis and Samuel's son was my grandfather. Alfred Emanuel Davis.

Not sure of the complete story of Alfred, but he was murdered by Union leaders when he was working for either the mob or the FBI.

Alfred had two children with my grandmother, the son is no longer living.

I found this site that lists and explains Davis' from Western North Carolina. There is one John Davis from West Virginia, but no information on his family.

I am looking for information for a Jehu L Davis who was born in Delaware abt.1787 and married Sarah Laidley in 1812.He may have also been called John or Joe.He is buried in Davis ridge cemetary in marion county,West Virginia.
