Hi I am looking imfo on a William Stoddart who married a Catherine ???? I know of one son James at the age of 23 sailed on the ship Kate in April 1853. Also on the same ship same port Fiche Page was a george Stoddart aged 26 any imfo on the above would be greatly appreciated. James was born in Perthshire
It appears to me that the Stoddart families, generally speaking, came from in and around central Scotland. ie Perthshire in general. Of course as time went on they began to move around the country as did all families but it seems that there was always a trace of "originals " who remained in there respective counties within their respective shires. This is the prob we all have in research ie where did they move to and which relo was it that moved, ie yours or not... becomes pretty confusing therefore the old parochial records are the way to go, ( if you can find them ). Best of luck. Now if anyone does locate old church records please let me know where you got them.
