Researching the Nolen and Braden Family History
My grandmother, Vela Lorene (Braden) Nolen b. 11/19/1921 d. 06/04/2007, recently past away and I was astounded by how little my dad and uncle knew about their family history. So I have decided to take the information that I found while going through her things and try to put it all together for them and myself. I am new at this and not really sure where to start.
My Grandmother married James Bernon Nolen b.01/17/1923 d. 04/07/1990
She grew up in the Como-Picton area of East Texas and he in Yantis Texas. Her parents were Bessie (Strassner) Braden and Paul Braden
and his were John Bowden Nolen and Daisy Mae (Landcaster) Nolen.
Allthough I was born in Texas and live here ,my line from my dad Col.Loyce Allen Braden born in Ratliff,itawamba County,MS,Dec. 1921 ,his dad Henry Vester Braden ,born in Braden's Branch, Itawamba,Cnty. MS 1873,His dad David Calhoun Braden ,born in Talladaga,Ala,1826,His dad John Braden born in Elbert County,GA,1803,his dad William Braden born 1770 Staunton, Augusta Cnty. VA .His parents William and Honor Skelton Braden ukn. Paul Braden is ukn. to me but could be from the Tenn,line one of Williams ,other kids, they moved to East Texas from Giles County Tenn,into Ark,also another of our line Solomon Braden ,his mother remarried after Civil War moved to Ark, some of them also moved into East Texas .Contact me for more info .
