Researching Werring IN Cornwall UK

By Bernice010 January 1, 2007 2360 views 2 comments

I have managed to get back to William Werring born circa 1789 at St Stephens by Launceston. Struggling to find a baptism for him though.

Research is made harder by the different spellings - I have found relatives under Waring, Warring, Warren, Werrin, Werren, to name a few.

The family stayed mainly around Launceston and South Petherwin.

If anyone has any information on Werrings (or similar spelling) I would love to hear from you.

Dear Bernie, Hi there. Welcome. Have you tried RootsChat.com - England - Cornwall boards at all?

If not, register as a new user, it is a FREE genealogy site.

They also have a surname interest table.

There is usually a genforum at genealogy.com for each surname as well.

Regarding this journal, the more information you provide, the more likely you are to be contacted by a descendant. Example, whom did your William WERRING marry? And what were his children's names?

Q.Have you traced your ancestor/s through the Census years 1841 through to 1901? You can do this on rootschat as well. Just post a Census Lookup Request.

Kind regards,
Alison.

Thanks for your reply. I have been to Genforum before but I hadn't heard of RootsChat - thanks for the link. I have searched Ancestry.co.uk for all the census, getting most of the family information from there.

William Werring married Jane Gerry in 1815 and they had: Richard, William, Joseph, John, Ann, Eliza Gerry, Henry and Mary Jane. All were born and baptised at South Petherwin.

My husband's grandmother descends from John born 1823. I have put all my information on my website.
