edmondsallan - hello - i am getting contacts from a wide range of " Cussies / Relatives / distant descendants " even one from the home of the original Taylor in Cambridgeshire , Eng' > by phone . how did they find my number . Never mind . Some of you will already, know about some the material in this journal . However I think I have to inform all the family , so they are up with the rest of the family . and " Ian Penrose" you have knowledge of some very valuable documentation. on the original ' Rev Taylor '- OK we are under way .

On Febuary - 5th - 1840 . as part of the " official party " ( I just love that terminology ) Rev' R . Taylor was at the signing in person . The Govenor of NZ , asked ' Taylor " in the evening of the same day to print an " Official Document of the Aggreement" Treaty of Waitangi , from the rough draft that had been made . This he did . he also kept the rough draught , which was with his NZ descendants for many years .
( Wow !!! ) I don't peronally know how , but I believe that original rough draft of the " Waitangi Agreement " between the maori & pakeha , has been lost or somehow hasn't survived . " Rev' Taylor " also went on to attend and record subsequent treaty discussions at Hokianga and Kaitia. ( I think this lad was a powerful figure in his day among the Officials ) I have a note here ,saying was going to be shifted to the "Parish Of Monganui " on the coast. ( ** > I wonder if that fish & chip shop was there then < ** ) However that didn't happen . He was sent to Wanganui to take up the parish formerly run by the " Reverend John Mason " who drowned while crossing the
" Turaina River . " On the 1st of May 1843 , he landed at
" Putiki Wharanui " on the southern side of Wanganui . His parish was huge in land area . up to Taupo via Wanganui River -across to Rangitikei- and all the river basins and head waters of Waitara &
Wanganui . It was his doing that many churches were built in this huge parish . He even trained and set up the original Maori Magistrates ( Wardens ) to keep the peace in this area . In his spare time ( if he had any ) he went on studying Botany & writing Books on NZ. After 1850, his influence on the maori tribes to stop fighting each other was huge in every way , especially the two coastal tribes -
" Ngati Tuwharetoa and Nga Ruanui . " It was round about this time he and Governor Grey met and became personal friends and when suitable in their travel's, stayed at each others homes . They both shared many common Intellectual interests . the same could be said for two other high officials - " Edward Eyre & Donald Mclean " -
( thats another story I see I have some notations on ) Rev Richard Taylor was invovled in all major decisions concerning his parish , especially the purchase of lands. His Influence among the maori Tribes is well documentated & held in our National Library . Once again he was the master mind behind the building of many schools and the first Wanganui Hospital . In 1848 He was the major negotiator in the handing over to the NZ Government by the many maori tribes of
80,000 acres of land . *** ( the abilities of " Richard Taylor " still amaze me " )- Time for a break - I'll be back tomorrow - Till we meet again - regards - edmondsallan
