He had with him his wife Margaret nee Philpott and 3 boys and 3 girls. Of the children I can only see 3 that were related to them - Mary Ann, Louisa and Rayner. The other children were Sarah Ann, Richard and Elizabeth.
Can anybody help with this please?

hi irenehep,

Richard CLIFTON (1802-1873) married Margaret PHILPOTT (1803-1885) in Egerton in 1832

their children (christened in Egerton) were:
1826 - Sarah Ann Clifton
1828 - Daniel Clifton (possibly died prior to 1841)
1832 - 1858 Richard Clifton
1834 - 1905 Mary Ann Clifton
1835 - ? Elizabeth Clifton
1837 - 1874 Louisa Clifton
1839 - 1941 Rayner Winch Clifton (died on board)
their children born in New Zealand:
1843 - 1932 Cecelia/Celia Clifton
1844 - 1863 George Rayner Clifton
1845 - 1904 John Clifton
1849 - 1879 Edward Clifton

some of those dates are approx at this time and there was possibly another child born 1841 after their landing on the Lord William Bentinck

thank you so much for that information. Are you researching them as well?

Do you know whether Richard was married before he married Mary PHILPOTT? I can't find any birth records for the first 3 children that tie up.

thanks
