Ruben Luther Whatley S Father Stephen G Whatley is Supposed to Trace Back to Shirley Whatley Per My Y DNA but We Cannot Find Connection

My grandfather was Andrew Wesley Whatley 1893-1947 (AL). His father was Ruben Luther Whatley 1855-1912 (AL). His father was Stephen G. Whatley (1822 SC - 1859 AL). My Y-DNA111 on FTDNA shows haplogroup I-M253. It is supposed to trace back to Shirley Whatley. I am showing relationship to 10 other people that trace back to Shirley Whatley but we cannot find where my family fits into the puzzle. We cannot find Stephen G. Whatley's birth or his parents.
