I have a death certificate for Sam W. Godsey, my great grandfather, born in Texas, died in Texas, had a family in Texas. The death certificate says his father was J. W. Godsey and mother Rachil Ruse or Reese. I have found an Edgar Godsey married a Rachel Reese, but this doesn't fit the J. W. and it is definitly J. W. Godsey. the death certificate says both parents were born in Louisiana. Although through the censuses Sam W. Godsey gives several places where his parents were born, such as Virginia, Georgia; Mississippi. I don't think he knew where his parents were born.

Any help out there?
