Searching for AXILROD cousins whose families first immigrated to (Woodbine), NJ and (Philadalphia), PA areas c 1870s-1890s.
AXILROD family originally came from Iasi, Romania (also spelled "Jassy" or "Yassy") and Caprescht,Bessarabia region.
My G-grandfather "JOHN" AXILROD ended up in Wisconsin and died in Minneapolis, MN, USA.
His older brothers ISREAL and DAVID AXILROD immigrated to NJ and Pennsylvania, where my late father met many cousins just before embarking for the European Theater during WW2 in August, 1942.

My grandfather, Maurice Harry Axilrod (Moses Aaron) is from Karnasht, Russia, arrived in late 1890's and setled in Atlantic City, NJ. He was a physician and evidently came from a large family, however, I never met any of them.

My grandfather Maurice, was from a family of twelve children. Their father was a talmudic scholar. Evidently one of the brothers, Henry was a "scoundrel" and spent time in prison. This info was gvin to me by Maurice's, son's (Herbert's) second wife, Mary.
