Searching for Lawton of Wellington Nz

I am searching for information on William Henry Lawton son of Frank and Mary Jane Lawton of Wellington. He was the brother of my great grandmother Ethel May Featonby nee Lawton. I have his war medals and would love to hear his story. I have managed to find a few things out about him though I am sure there is much more to tell. He had a son called Cecil I think; are there any descendants of his?

hi suehall,
As you probably know, William Henry Lawton (1892-1957) was the 13th of 16 children of Captain Frank LAWTON, Master Mariner (1837-1906 born New York) & Mary Jane LOVELL (1853-1932 born in New South Wales, Australia to a convict) but, when William embarked for war (as Private 8/1375) on 14 Dec 1914 he listed his mother as next of kin as living at Dunnellen Estate, Brisbane, Australia ??
His enlistment address was Lyall Bay, Wellington

His mother was probably visiting relatives or friends as they are both buried in Plot 58L, PUBLIC2 at Karori cemetery

William Henry Lawton married Ruth Elizabeth Bennett (1898-) in 1916. A daughter of William John BENNETT & Agnes SHELLAM

Did his son have any children. I want to pass on these medals one day to his family if any though I would like to continue my research about him first as his story has intrigued me.
