Searching for Scottish Parents of John Mcdonald

John McDonald was born in the Georgetown District of SC in 1793. He married and moved his family to Mississippi (Rankin county area). Their daughter married and stayed there but the bulk of the family moved to south Texas and settled in the DeWitt County area. I am a direct descendant and will share what I have. Please help me find the parents of John and or where/when/how they emigrated to America.

Hello - Sorry to say, but with such a common name as John MacDonald (or variant) you may find you have great trouble finding him in Scottish records. Your best bet is to go on the Scotlands People website and search the parish records there but you will need to subscribe and there will be a lot of records to search through. You could also try Familysearch if you haven't done that already.
