Seeking Information About a William Lawton Who Settled IN Middletown N J IN the Late 1600s

He emigrated from England to Newport, Rhode Island, in the 1660s and shortly afterwards moved to New Jersey where he began using the name LAYTON. I would like to know his place of birth in England and his date of birth and any other details about his life. He is believed to have been a widower when he arrived in Newport with a son. After arriving in New Jersey, he is said to have married Violet BLACKMAN of New York, N.Y. Amongst their friends were members of the DRUMMOND family.
