Hi again lzmaag,
Just an amendment to the above ...
First of all I got rid of all the dark writing, find it hard to read like that
But I also found more info, and fixed the mistake, on Georgina Faulds - see 1884 above.
She actually married Alexander Cranstoun, (the Dr Stuart was the celebrant) and as you will see at the amendment below, I don't believe she is directly of this family, although there could be a distant connection
Robert Faulds was born 6th September 1812
He may have had a brother Colin
Robert had a daughter Annie Faulds born 3rd October 1841 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbarton, Scotland
- Annie married Alxander Smith in 1874 in Greenock, Renfrew

In 1877 there was a Dunedin and Green Island Ploughing Match where William Faulds was one of the Committe members
In 1884 Alexander Cranstoun (with photo of Alex and Georgina at that link) married Georgina Faulds in Dunedin. The above link says Georgina Faulds was a daughter of Mr Faulds of Victoria so I now believe she is not directly of this family
In 1885 a young Faulds was captain of the Kaitangata Boys School Football Club (they lost against Balclutha) - Kaitangata is 81km south of Green Island Dunedin
In 1893 Mr FAULDS HOMESTEAD at Green Island Bush was a polling place for the Electoral District of Caversham

Hi Izmaag
Looks like my private messages may have fallen to the gremlin in the FTC unretrievable message losses!
Re: Colin Faulds and Ann Ferguson marriage 28.7.2849.
I believe this Colin may be a cousin of ours as he was the son of Andrew Faulds and Margaret McLause (McLaws). - born around the same time as our Colin.
I have a photo of his headstone in Lennoxtown/ Campsie cemetery listing all his family if you are interested.
I also have a copy of his death certificate.
I would love more details on the McLardy family as what I have is fairly sketchy.
Regards
Judianne
Judianne,
My apologies for the delay in replying.
Interesting information regarding the Colin Faulds. I believe there are two of them, rather than one who married twice, but I have yet to research this. I would love to see copies of Colin's headstone and death certificate. How kind of you to offer. If you have electronic copies, please email them to lyndy777@live.com.
The McLardy and Faulds families come together when my great, great grandparents Alexander McLardy and Annie Faulds marry in Glasgow circa 1864, have two children (a son Alexander and a child who dies), in 1864 immigrate to the Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia, where my great grandmother Sarah is born in the town of Dalby.
Annie Faulds is the daughter of Robert Faulds and his wife Jean/Jane (nee Cluggie) and Robert, in turn, is the son of Colin Faulds and his wife Anne. Robert left Scotland and immigrated to Dunedin, New Zealand, circa 1873; there is no record that I have yet come across that indicates his wife went with him, but I fully confess I am still working on this one.
The McLardy's, once they immigrate, are locally acknowledged as a respected pioneering family who settled at Cutella, a small area near Kingsthorpe, where Alexander and his son Alexander Jnr after him, became farmers. Alexander and Ann had 8 children that survived into adulthood:
Alexander
Sarah
Ann
Jane
Robert
Janet
Margaret and
Daniel.
Let me know if you would like specifics on one or more of these.
Sarah married twice, once in Charters Towers in Northern Queensland, to a German bricklayer by the name of Hermann (Harry) Timm/s. Her second husband was my great grandfather Johann (John, Jack) Maag. Clearly Miss McLardy had a penchant for German blokes, because John was of Swiss-German heritage. Sarah was back on the Darling Downs by the time she married John. Of her first marriage there were two children, Anne and Harry Alexander and of the second marriage there were:
Sydney Leonard (my grandfather)
Kenneth Harold
Linda Sarah and
John Collins.
Alexander and Ann and their daughters Margaret and Annie and son Alexander are all buried in three plots side by side, in the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery in Toowoomba.
Please advise if you would like certificates / photographs of grave sites and I'll happily advise.
Warm regards,
L
