Samuel Caleb Smale was a marine engineer and has a couple of newspaper Sydney Morning Herald mentions on 26th June 1925 and 19th May 1915, the latter was a serious event where Samuel survived a shipping disaster.
A Samuel Smale gets a mention in The Maitland Mercury & Hunter River General Advertiser (NSW : 1843-1893) October 10th 1885 where he was the victom of a felony attempt at Maitland NSW.
a Mr Caleb Smale was a respected Engineer and involved with the Hunter District Water Supply in 1885. See the Maitland Mercury & Hunter River General Advertiser (NSW : 1843-1893) 31st March 1887.
