I thought I would divide my trees and looking here at my maternal grandfather James Thomas Smith his parents were Peter Smith and Margaret (Maggie) Pottinger. My grandfather was born 4 December, 1912 and died 31 May, 1977. As I am just learning about these circles I am unsure how much information I need to add? Maree Croxon nee Mapperson

There is no set way of going about doing ancestry or how much you want or need to add. If you can find your great grandparents and there children then that is good, but if you want to find your great great grandparents then that is good too. There are many different people willing to help someone to find who they need to find. Some deaths maybe so hard to find that you might not be able to find them but it is because mostly the cemetery has not been read or it is covered with brush that most people forget about them, that is why we have the Genealogical Societies, to help bring those cemeteries up to date and hopefully be able to read the stones and maybe those people would not be lost. I have been doing this for about 8 or 9 years and I love to help people find whoever they need me to find. I will help in anyway. Some have access to genealogical centers where they have books on counties, the cemeteries, births, deeds, land surveys, and so forth. The Census records tells a lot about the families also. So we do have access to records and a lot of information is already online. Whenever you want to go to the next level, we are here to help you. But we need as much information as we can get cause we don't read minds. But I have to guess what they mean sometimes cause I do know a lot, but everyone here tries to do their best to help the person, but we know what it is like when we first started and how far do we go too. So we have all been there and it may take a long while to get your family together but we can get there one ancestor at a time. If you need any more help we are here to help. smith41

Do you know when Peter Smith and Margaret were born and where did they live? My father was a smith and he was from Tennessee but his grandfather was born in Ireland 1700's. And that is hard but I am still trying. Maybe I can help you. smith41
