August 1844 Jefferson County, GA Wife of Richard Hudson, Sr. b. 1770 VA d. 1833 Jefferson County, GA Made: 28 Apr 1844 Probated: 02 Sep 1844 State of Georgia ) Jefferson County ) In the name of God, Amen, I, MARTHA HUDSON being in a low and debilitated state of health but of sound mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of this body knowing it is appointed for all mankind once to die, I do recommend my body to the tomb and my soul to God who gave it. And as for those worldly goods it has been pleasing to God to bless me with, I wish it and my children kept together until my children share have made and housed the crop they now have planted there my Executor to proceed to sell off my Estate everything of which it may consist for the purpose of paying off all my just debts there the balance to equally divided between my children now living, viz. LITTLETON HUDSON, MATTHEW HUDSON, MARY HUDSON, NARCISSA HUDSON, TOLIVER HUDSON, LAWSON HUDSON, JAMES HUDSON, and WILLIAM* HUDSON, each one of them to share equally in the division of my Estate. And I do hereby constitute and appoint DAVID F. SMITH as my Executor, to execute and carry out this my Last Will and Testament I do hereby publish this to be my Last Will and Testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal by making my mark in presence, this 28th April 1844. /s/ MARTHA (X) HUDSON Witnesses: /s/ Patience (x) Taylor /s/ Reuben Atwell /s/ D. F. Smith * MY NOTE: I feel this was mistranscribed as "Walter" Hudson or it was his nickname. No record of any children were born after Richard Hudson, Sr. passed away in 1833. State of Georgia ) In the Court of Ordinary Jefferson County ) September term 1844 Personally appeared in open court, REUBEN ATWELL, on of the subscribing witnesses to the within Will of MARTHA HUDSON, late of said County deceased who on his oath deposeth and saith that he saw the said MARTHA HUDSON sign, seal , and publish the same to be and contain her Last Will and Testament that the Testatrix was of sound and disposing mind and memory at the time of making said Last Will and Testament and that the deponent was a subscribing witness thereto and also PATIENCE TAYLOR and DAVID F. SMITH that they all signed the same i nthe presence of each other and in the Testatrix presence.
