Stephen Bassett Simmonds B 1802 Rotherfield East Sussex

The above's parents did not marry.My research suggests that Stepen Bassett was the father's name ,and that Simmonds was the mother's.He married Mary Bailey on the 17th April 1823 at St.Dunstans,Mayfield.No parents' names were on the certificate. I wold appreciate any help.Yours Keith Simmonds
