VESSELS FOR ENGLAND
During the past week the different vessels loading have met with much detention, owing to the wetness of the weather. A similar occurrence has also happened with regard to copper ore as took place last season: The Tasmania, Lydia, and Neptune, are about to discharge what portion they have taken in for dead weight, owing to its having heated so much. This ore was imported from New Zealand, and the most considerable portion from Mr. Taylor's mine at Kawan, some of which was landed from the Johnstone, last year, after being stowed, from fear of its igniting. The Rookery, which left this for Portand Bay, a short time since, to fill up with wool for England, also took some of the copper ore for dead weight; but owing to the intense heat it attained, she put in Launceston to land it. As a great quantity of wool has been stowed upon it in the different vessels, it will cause both serious expense and detention.
