He was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Dickens of Manawa, who have the sincere sympathy of a very large circle of friends. Deceased was a steady, industrious young fellow and his early death is sincerely regretted by all who knew him. The funeral took place on Sunday last and was very largely attended by people from all over the district. The first part of the service was held in the Church of the Good Shepherd, when the hymns 'Jesus, Lover of My Soul' and 'peace, Perfect Peace in this Dark World of Sin' were feelingly sung. A short address was delivered by the Rev J. H. Sykes, who conducted the service. The Te Nui Court of Foresters, of which he was a member, attended in their official capacity. TENUI. Quite a gloom was cast over the district on Christmas Day, when the news spread that Mrs W. Dickens, of Riverside, had passed away. The deceased had only been ill a week with influenza, but last Friday her illness took a more serious turn and ended fatally.
