The Buliff Bulliff IN Marlborough

the BULIFF family of Marlborugh New Zealand is sometimes spelt BULLIFF

James Buliff on 28 April 1840 on board the ship his father Robert BULLOCK was sailing to Hobart, Tasmania on from India as a discharged soldier of the 96th Regiment

James had an early seafaring life in Tasmania and moved to NZ in 1866

- he married Clara MEECH in Wellington
they had 6 children:

- married Reuben Henry HODSON in 1889
- Reuben remarried in 1916 to Ellen May BULLIFF

1870-1951 James Robert Bulliff
- married Mary Ann TAYLOR in 1897

1872-1872 Emma Bulliff
- Emma died as an infant

1875-1943 Alfred John Bulliff
- married Ellen May BOYD in 1900
- married Jessie Wilson ASPEN (1885-1962) in 1920

1977 William Ralph Bulliff
- married Emily Sarah Jane RICHARD in 1900

1880 Edward Sydney Tasman Bulliff
- married Emily Isabel COLEMAN in 1901
their children were:

James was the Harbourmaster, Pilot & Captain at the Wairau for over 17 years
He died in 1886 aged 45
