The Hewett Family of Ilfracombe Devon IN the 17th and 18th Centuries Were Numerous and Kept Using the Same First Names

I am interested in the lineage of my ancestor "Richard Hewett" baptised 3 June 1798 son of John and Anne in Ilfracombe. The parentage, birthdate and parentage of John Hewett is proving difficult as there are many "Johns" of a likely age, but I have yet to find one certain contender! Help if you can
