Thee Edmonds Cat

edmondsalan - Good morning - Before starting work today I can sense we need a short story to clean the mind , put it into a humorous - sponge soak up condition - cause we could be travelling today . Yesterday , when I was coming back from taking " Jasmine " ( THee Cat !! ) for her daily walk up the road about 10 houses , we were talking to each other about the flowers ___ B_B_B_i-rrr d-sss ___ when some primary school children were giving us the big stare , on hearing some body crazy ( who must be talking to his cat .)We got to our front lawn , where Mum Feeds the birds every day and right in the middle are two wild ducks < A female & a drake .I don't know where they came from . These children stop and were watching from the other side of the road . I knew they were listening . I spoke to " Thee Cat " Quite loud so they could hear . " Now I want you to guard these two ducks Jasmine - They must have a nest some where handy . No chasing them! - you stand guard !!! " I could see they had stopped dead _ all eyes & ears -- Their's a biggish sort of flowering bush in the front Land . I just took
" Thee Cat " their -, gently pushed her down into a crouch and in a loudish voice for all to hear said " Stay " which she did while I walked away with my fingers crossed . I wonder if you can picture the scene _ 5 kids, aged 12 to 10 - gawking at about 20 birds of all kinds , two wild ducks feeding - and my well obeyed cat / animal companion ( if their is such a cat ) crouched by a bush about 3 metres from the feeding frenzie , while I just calmly walked away . 10 min " later the scene was the same. I went out to the front steps quitely , took out my old silent to humans sheperd's whistle - & blew her feeding call
" Thee cat" got up went the long way round . ( you are the best Jassie !! ) down the drive & into the house > The ducks - and the birds still their feeding - Plus and audience of more kids from down the road joining the others . Boy oh Boy I wish I had -had a camera I never thought any more about it . About 3.45pm in the afternoon . A knock on the door , ( I observed that the older children were waiting by the road ) and these two 9- 10 year olds were on a mission. They asked very politely " can we see your ducks and your cat ??? " I said the ducks had gone but " jasmine " was their . So I whistled her ( usually reserved for feeding time when she is roaming and trying to boss other cats ) and by good luck who should appear - Yes -spot on " Thee cat " These two young ones hugged her . and she just looked at them with whiskery grin ( usually after that she strikes with the speed of lightning at any human flesh _ except mine ) I quickly grabbed her . She knew - I knew --she was going to spoil this happy ending to this story . Guess what ,here she is . She has just turned up acknowledged my presence in her company - gone to her favourite spot by the computer looking out the window with the sun pouring down on her Now she is giving me her bossy Look -and saying " Get to work you old story teller " you might be able to fool kids , but not Me !! " the cheeky cow " By the way do you talk to your cat ??? come on now be Honest do you . ???? O K my first cuppa has arrived , could be a great day ! Till we meet again - Regards - edmondsallan
