My wife's name is Eleanor, nee Porter. These are probably the same as my wife's great-great-great grandfather b 1762 in Armagh d 1854 in Portadown N. Ireland. He was in military service 07 Dec 1793 with the 1st Foot soldiers, 1st Battalion. Married to Chleressa Simpson. We have another possible spelling Clarisia Simson with no "P"; b 14 May 1781, d 11 Oct 1857. Marriage 21 Feb 1803 in Portadown. It is unlikely that these two are different from yours except the dates of birth and death. This information came from a family bible passed down over the years. Thomas and Chleressa had 10 kids. We have the information of the given name "David" for that line.
Contact me if you need more info or, you have additional information especially their mothers and fathers.
Thank you so much, John, for this wonderful information; it does mostly tie in with the little bit of information that I have, so it seems that we are on the right track. I'm sorry that I cannot furnish you with any more information regarding the parents of either Thomas or Chleressa. I believe they are buried in the Seagoe Churchyard, and I am planning to go there next year to check them (and others) out. I have a rough photograph of their grave which I will email to you, as well as a photograph of David Porter, which you probably do have (it was on Ancestry tree). The only other information that I have of these two (my 3xGt Grandparents)are the names of their 10 children, of which John was my direct antecedent. I would love to hear any more information that you may have, and also how your wife is descended through the line. My email is bourke-shaw@xtra.co.nz Regards, Pam
