Tracing Bateson Family IN Lancs

Actively [as time allows!!] researching the Bateson family based on the Lancashire [Wigan/Bolton]area but very much a work in progress

My part of the clan moved from Lancs in the 1920s [motivated by the demise of the cotton inductry etc ] to Staffs

So far the 18th century onwards history reasonably documented but becomes less clear pre 1800 not ascertained whether this is because records in Lancs are poor or whether before that date the ancestors were elsewhere ?Yorks or even Ireland
