There are 4 George Stevens at Riverton but only 1 probably of the right age and Esther is not there.
I thought they might be in Gore but didn't find them. One of their daughters, Rosina Stevens (1912-1997) married Ernest William Hoffman (1907-1976), the 11th of 12 children of Maximilian John HOFFMAN & Ellen DOVALOSKY, a son of a well-known sporting family of Gore

This is not getting immediately to her parents but all bits of info eventually come together for the bigger story

Kimbaz are you Kimberley from Invercargill? I am Rosina and Ernest's granddaughter from Invercargill. There are about four George Stevens from Riverton. I think George married to Esther is buried in Riverton. There are many books at the library about John Howell, photos of his family, where he is from. George stevens (not Esther's husband) died and John Howell married his wife, that is how we are related to John Howell. It is all in the books as I said. The Stevens have also wrote a book on their family history. But I have been told that there may have either been a discretion on George and Esther or there was a race issue while they are not buried together and why it is hard to track George down.

Hi I'm also looking into George & Esther Stevens - I'm having trouble as on Esther's death certificate it says parents are Robert and Mary - I can't find a marriage certificate for them. I have a marriage certificate for Robert Hughes and Sarah Pizzey who were married in Timaru 1874 and Esther would have been born about 1877 and she was born in Timaru
I have found a marriage certificate for John Hughes and Betsey Kuanana in 1850 which is pretty exciting.

Also just wondering if George Stevens was married to Maria Stevens (Nee Wood) in 1887 and then she died 1900 and therefore he married Esther in 1904.
