Have your tried www.familysearch.org? Fill in the name but leave the location out. You might want to get a little "creative" with the spelling if you get no response. Try just using an "H" with the last name, or adding an "e" to make it Whitemore or dropping the "h" to make it Witmore. He may have been born elsewhere and moved to RI as an infant. Happy Hunting.
