Each and every person has been individually researched; using BDM, Papers Past, the cemetery database, family trees or any other means which revealed some of the names (spelling) or dates, differ slightly from the list - this is pointed out on each.

. born 4 Nov 1875 in Hamilton, only child of Francis McGovern (1833-1925), Superintendent of the NZ Police Force & Bridget Canny (1849-1939).
about his father Francis McGovern was born in Ireland and joined the Irish Constabulary. He came to Canterbury in 1863, moving to Auckland the following year, very soon being posted to Ngaruawahia, then to Hamilton where he was stationed for 22 years. He secured his first promotion in connection with the capture and arrest of the accused murderer Taurangaka Winiata. He was promoted to police inspector of Hawkes Bay. He lived for the last 20 years of his life in Remuera.
* Frank Dalton McGovern was the Manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Auckland, rose to the position of accountant at the Auckland branch, opened the new branch at Newton and was manager at Whangarei, Dannevirke, & Timaru. He was best known for his hearty personality and wide interest in sporting activities. He married Margaret Florence Boddington in 1902 but no children. He died from complications following an operation . full bio
