Hello I am looking for information about the Vipond family from Alston.I have in my family tree a Joseph Vipond Stephenson born 1875 in Stanhope to Elizabeth(Park) and Joseph Stephenson,b1840- Joseph was from Stanhope as was his father,Jonathon, who was married to Sarah ? Stanhope is not far from Alston and Jonathon was a lead miner so it is possible that Sarah was from Alston or Nenthead.
Joseph Stephenson b1840, had a brother William b1846 who married Ann Hewitson from Nenthead near Alston. They had four sons, Alfred b1872, Frederick b1874, no trace of them after the 1881 census and William H 1878 and John T b1882, no trace of them or their parents after the 1891 census. As I have found that there were Vipond Stephenson's living in Austrailia in the early part of the 20th century I wonder if they moved there and started up a new branch of the family tree. Does anyone have any further information please.
