Voelker Family Living IN New Orleans
I am a descendant of Henry Voelker and Elizabeth Hessler both born in New Orleans, LA. I would love to share information and stories. The stories I remember hearing as a child about my great-grandmother were that she was a hard, German lady who was rather strict with her grandchildren. However, she was also the person who was called in the neighborhood to take care of medical problems with friends and family. The family lived on Urquhart Street in the 9th Ward. In fact, two of my great-aunts continued living in the house for many years. I can remembering visiting them in the 1960's.
