The Sydney Morning Herald Fri 5 Aug 1921
MR. S. W. VON STURMER. OBITUARY

Mr. Spencer William von Sturmer, formerly a Judge of the Native Land Court of New Zealand, died on Tuesday last at the age of 85 years. He was born at Twickenham-on-Thames in January, 1836, his father being the late Rev. Fredrick von Sturmer, M.A., rector of St. Heapham, Lincoln, and his boyhood was passed in the old country. Some years ago Mr. S. W. von Sturmer retired
from his public position. A brother, the Rev. Heaton von Sturmer, at one time filled the position of chaplain at the British Embassy at Riga.

It seems the "Von" brought the Sturmer brothers a certain amount of prestige as well as well-paying jobs. ;)
