Sarah Mortimer was Alexander's legal wife and she wouldn't leave her family.
Joseph was sarah mortimer/alexander child and was raised by catherine O'brien as her's
Joseph{1} born 1814 and died and died accidently Joseph [2] born 5/11/1816.Alexander wanted Sarah to come to Launceston she stayed with her family she was very young. Alexander got Catherine O'Brien to come to Launceston to care for Joseph and they had
an she became his defacto and had 5kids by him.Eliza, Elizabeth,Alexander,John, Jane
both Jane and Eliza married William Wathen and he got the inheritance of both girls & they both died in childbirth and having 6 kids between them.William Fowler Wathen died
6/12/1899.Catherine died 28/2/1843 and was cared for by her niece Mary Anne Porter and
she also had 5 kids to him. Sarah. james,George.Twins only Sarah and James survived.
SORRY! Name should be Beresford and not Mortimer, Sarah was catholic and couldn't get divorced. She lived with another man Thomas Bannister and married him after she heard of Alexander's death Alexander died 17/12/1852 he was 67 yo. Sarah married 28/10/1864 Bannister was 86yo and Sarah about 68yo Alexander/Sarah child Mary b 12/1/1822 lived
with Sarah and Bannister and Mary died at 16yo and is buried behind the O'Brien Chapel
her death and burial place has only recently been discovered. I have a lot of family history available I have been researching Waddles for 25years, there is 2 of us doing

Alexander was a man who liked women, but I believe that if he was free he would have married Catherine O'Brien, Catherine O'Brien's Mother was Susanah Mortimer a convict
sent to Norfolk Island she was on the brothel ship in the 2nd Fleet and arrived 1790
& met up with Thomas O'Brien and married him he was a marine who was given a land grant
on the Island if he wanted to stay here. His grant was next to the Beresfords and when they left Norfolk they were given adjoining grants at New Norfolk. Susanah had a child
on board ship and was named after her mother Susanah & Thomas O'Brien gave her his name
and she married a convict George Porter and their daughter Maryanne became Alexander
defacto in about 1835 while she was looking after her aunt Catherine O'Brien
We have done the O'Brien history and the waddle history from 1812 till today, and we are still looking at other parts of the family, and the properties and his horse racing
and when he became a Skipper of his own ship and where he sailed and the Inns that he owned and why did he diverse himself of a lot of personal things about 1836 when his
1st child Sarah was born to Maryanne Porter. He also set up 2 Trusts for Sarah and James to protect them from the older siblings. Alexander became a very wealthy man for
a courtmartialled man and he has a very interesting life & fathered 13 kids to 3 women
