When Did John Young Visit His Aunt Helen Comrie Nee Young IN New Zealand
This is my present research question. I know John Young was born in Methven, Perth, Scotland 1861. He was the son of Archibald Young (1822-1903) and Elizabeth Lawson (1834 - 1922). Archibald and Helen Young were brother and sister. Helen was born 1823 in Perthshire. She married James Comrie (1813-1881)in 1857 and shortly after they immigrated to New Zealand. The lived at Avondale and Pukekohe.
John Young supposedly visited New Zealand sometime after the Scotland 1881 Census and before 1893 when he sailed from Victoria to Western Australia. A reason he visited his Aunt was to tell her the news of the death of Dr William Marshall (1834-1884) her half cousin. He also visited Malmsbury, Victoria to inform Betsy Marshall the sister of Dr Marshall.
I am trying to piece together a timeline of is movements but do not know if he went to Australia first then to New Zealand and back to Australia or to New Zealand before Australia.
Wanting to hear from anyone who may have stories in their family about John Young or Dr William Marshall. The significance of Dr Marshall is that he had been a Royal Physician to Queen Victoria for 10 years.
Any information about the people mentioned would be helpful in constructing this time line.
Thank you

hi, Hopefully you've had a response to this post already as it was some time ago. However, if you haven't then happy for you to contact me. I'm one of John Young's many grandchildren and my sister and I are also interested in the Comrie connection to our family. Please let me know what your connection to the family is and whether you still require further information. We also have information on Dr William Marshall who was the resident medical attendant to Queen Victoria for 10 years.
Best regards.
Hi
Thanks for your response. I am a great grand daughter of John Young through his daughter Jessie Helen Martha. My dad was proud that he was named after his grandfather.
I still have not discovered the travel times of John Young but have come up with many questions.
I have contacted you with my email address.
Cheers
