Where did "Brantner" come from?

Article by M_Malinda

BRANTNER has been used as a middle name for several male members of the McClure family. According to other usage, I think this was perhaps the surname of a woman marrying into the family. Are there any Brantners out there who have a McClure in the family?

Yes, Possibly from a female descended from a man named Andreas Brandner aka Brantner and sometimes Brandtner born in Germany in 1725 and arrived in America in 1750.
They settled around Maryland and had huge families. Hopefully someone will be able to give you an answer.

Thank you. I have found Brantner families in Ohio and Texas, but have not researched them as of yet.

My maiden name is Brantner, and my dad's family mostly lives in Pennsylvania.I was born in Maryland, and have lived most of my life in here. Andreas Brandner (Brantner) is my 5th great grandfather.
