Where Do You Go to Try and Trace Ancesters Who Originally Came from India

I have got back to Abdallah Edgar Maru died 1896 buried Eaglehawk cemetary Victoria Australia. I do not have a birth date or place of birth,family story is that the Maru family originated in India, and there is certainly signs of Indian skin tone and facial features within the family through the generations. I belong to the 5th generation of descendants of Abdallah Maru.
