Where is Leonard Oliver Strong Born 1894 Nz

Leonard married Ethel May BARROW 1917 and they had seven children. He did two tours in WWII, came home to Palmerston North and then disappeared, leaving his wife and children. The children were put into a home because there was no money, Ethel died shortly after. About 1942 he was last heard of in Kalgoorlie Australia. Would like to find where he died.
