Hello NOGGIN,
Alfred married Emily Ethell, 6TH January, 1928, Auckland New Zealand

They had two children,[On looking at the birth cert, it looks like maybe there were other children, but i maybe reading that wrong ] I dont know if he had brothers or sisters.

No middle name that i am aware of.

Not certain, but possible died in Auckland and buried [maybe] at Purewa Cemetery,Auckland.
Unsure of death date,1960,s i think

He lived in Pirie Street, Wellington, for a time.[ May have remarried later on ]

The only searching i have come up with is the Atkinson Brewery [Birmingham ]

And Edward Felix Atkinson who spent time in Calcutta India

Would love any help, Im not at all experienced at this, and find i keep hitting brick walls. Thanks

''Alfred married Emily Ethell, 6TH January, 1928, Auckland New Zealand''

Do you have a copy of the marriage certificate for the above, if so does it give fathers names and occupations and the ages of Ethel and Alfred.

I found a couple of Alfreds in the Birmingham area but not in born 1898.

Have you tried looking at Aston or Birmingham universities, my understanding is that was the path to civil engineer.

I will take another look in the morning.

Thank,s NOGGIN

No copy of a marriage certificate,But Emily Ethell,s Father was BENJAMIN ETHELL,I think Born in York,[Descendants of Francis Reynolds] Her Mother was Margaret Ann Ethell [ I think her maiden name was Smith? ]Born in Scotland.

But the Atkinson side i am looking for. The only thing i have is Alfred Atkinson was 30 in 1928, born Birmingham, England and written it says Electrical engineer.
Emily Atkinson [Ethell] was 25 years in 1928, and born in Scotland.

I think i came across the same Alfreds you have, also not born 1898

I have browsed Aston but will try Birmingham university,Thankyou for your help and advise, hope we catch up later.

I found this but there is now way of telling if this is your Alfred because we do not have a cross reference.

You might have to buy this to find his father. I assume like the UK New Zealand shows at least the fathers name.

Your an Angel, Thankyou so much for your help and information,I appreciate it very much.
That is possible, The christening date 1899 is close to his birth date of 1898,
and Edwin Felix Atkinson is probably the same who lived in Calcutta.

I will order the marriage reg of Emily and Alfred[That looks correct ]

As far as i know i think he died in the sixties,[ but i could be wrong ] It is also possible, the first two, 1928 roll [As my mother was born in Whangarei, unbeknown to me,until the last few years,as i always thought she was born in England ]
It,s possible that is him, also the second 1935 auck roll, as i think they moved back to Auckland.
He did live in Wellington, maybe late 50,s and part of the sixties. But may have no longer been doing engineering, He had at that stage properties that he rented out.

My Grandmother may have not shown on the roll, As they did separate, not sure when
and she seems to have travelled, i think also went back to England before returning again to NZ [I,m not sure if she travelled with Alfred, she may have in the earlier days, and i seem to recall maybe India or similiar.]

What you have found,I,m sure there will be something, and i would not have been able to access on my own [So hope you don,t run away ] THANKYOU
