Who Were Parents of Elizabeth Stewart 1824 1909
Elizabeth L. Stewart, a twin, born in 1824 in Barbour CO, AL, orphaned at early age, married in 1843 in Lowndes CO, AL, Almond Sanderson (1806-1879). Parents reportedly Thomas Stewart (possibly died in FL Indian Wars in about 1836) and Jane Lee. Any information on Elizabeth's parents greatly appreciated! Clues: Her middle initial could stand for "Lee," and youngest daughter, Carrie Lee, may have been named for her mother's maiden name. Also grandson, David had middle name "Lee," and great-granddaughter, Carrie Lee Tankersley, also had middle name, "Lee," and named her youngest daughter, Carrie "Lee" Sankey.
I did some research on this and I found that you were right partially, Her father is Thomas Stewart born 1799 in Alabama. and his wife is Jane Lee born 1803. I also believe she was also born in Alabama. I also found that the Lee name was right also. She is also a twin, and her twin's name is Delila and it is also spelled Deliah but on her gravesite it is Delila both were born Sept. 12, 1825 Elizabeth died Sept 1, 1909 in Montgomery, Alabama. They had 7 children and they are: Henry Clay Sanderson born 1844-1913. Fannie H Sanderson born 1847-1884, Thomas Lindsey Sanderson 1848-1909.Daniel Webster Sanderson born 1851- 1865. Susanna Virginia Sanderson -born 1854- 1935. James Monroe Sanderson -born 1856 - 1931. Elizabeth Leona Sanderson -born 1859 -1917, Carrie Lee Sanderson born 1866 - 1894.

But I will try Ok Let me know if you need any other information, We are here to help. smith41
Thanks for the info. However, most of it I already have! In fact, I believe a great deal is from info I posted at various times on the Internet. Some of your info is totally wrong, though, e.g. about Delilah -- my great-great grandmother's twin sister died when she was very young (and their parents died while they were young, also.) The Delilah Stewart you found is NOT the same one. My name "Calvert" is my married name.
What I am trying to do is to find out about Thomas Stewart and Jane Lee -- In researching the name Thomas Stewart, I came across a record of his participation in the Indian Wars (in FL) and the possibility that he died while serving (about 1836).
There were several LEES in Barbour County, AL, at the time that my gr-gr grandmother was born there -- which was in 1824, not 1825. I have a copy of her death certificate, which does NOT list her parents (says "unknown"). I have a picture of Elizabeth and Almon and some of their children.
I am a member of the Tabernacle Historical Assn, established to preserve the cemetery and church building -- I posted a list of burials online sometime back.
Anyway, Thomas and Jane Lee Stewart are my brick walls right now. (Not their descendants, just their ancestors). What is currently online about Thomas Stewart may be incorrect.
Well, I will leave you to let you do your reseach. I can't read anybody's mind and how was I to know it was the wrong one. Thank you for letting me brush up on my skills. smith41
I appreciate your response and your kindness in taking time to do that.
I was merely pointing out things that were incorrect so that you would know.
Don't know whether you are interested in this family line or not. But if so, will be glad to supply additional info to you!
Thank you again for your response to my request for help!
