William Baxter Born IN Ireland About 1820 and First Wife Jane Tanner B Circa 1815 Ireland Second Wife Partner Margaret Mcvey B 1846 IN Maybole Ayr

William and Jane TANNER BAXTER emigrated from Ireland with their first born son James (b. about 1839)to Scotland about 1840. Their children born in Dundonald, Ayr were: William 1845-1889; Ann 1845 - 1867; Hugh 1848 and John 1851 - 1857.

William jnr. married Janet STEEL and their daughter Mary was b.1862; she married Peter MCGUIRE and their children were William b.1880; Peter b.1881; Robert b.1884; Janet b.1886; Mary b. 1888; Jane b. 1892 and James b.1899.

Jane died in 1867 and William snr. had four more children with his housekeeper/partner Margaret MCVEY (b. 1846 in Maybole, Ayr). Their children were Margaret b. 1868; (She married Henry MCDOWALL on May 31, 1887 in Dalry, Ayr. They emigrated to U.S. and lived in Jolliet, Illinois.) Janet b. 1871; Mary b. 1875 - 1958 (my paternal grandmother) and Ross b. 1878-1884. William snr. died in 1885.

My grandmother Mary Baxter (above, b. 1875) married Hugh MCCALLUM in 1900 and emigrated to Canada in 1912 settling in Burnaby, B.C. Their children were - John-1900; William (Bill)-1902; Hugh-1904: Archibald-1906; Malcolm-1908 (my father); Margaret-1911 and Flora-1913.
