William Caldwell 1742 1801 Married Nancy Agnes Givens
William Caldwell is my 4th great grandfather. I have been able to trace the family back to him but do not know where he was born or who his parents were. He died in Mecklenburg, North Carolina, USA. Would love any information that might lead me to my 5th great grandparents. Thanks much!

Hi, My great, great...great whatever was William Caldwell. He and his brother along with their families came over from Ireland in the 1700s and landed in Richmond. They traveled south and William settled in either Catawba or Lincoln County. Not sure what it was called then. I had a professor at Central Piedmont Community College who did the genealogy research and published a book about the family. I know there was a copy in the Cpcc library in the 70s. Hope that helps.
