William Dortch 1724 1778

William Dortch was born in Virginia in 1724 to John Dortch and Hillica/Hellica/Hollera Barefoot. He married Anney/Anna Hilliard (1728-1789) in about 1747. They moved to Edgecombe, North Carolina where they had 3 children -
1> Lewis Dortch (1750-1818)
2> Mary Dortch (1750-1827) married Newsom
3> Betty Dortch (unk)

William Dortch's grandfather, Walter Dorch, is believed to be the first Dorch/Dortch in America.
