Wishing to connect with other Pennsylvania Moon researchers

Journal by jerrymoon

I have a lot of information about the Moon family who came to Pennsylvania with William Penn. I'm interested in sharing data , and stories about our Moon family ancestors.

My grandmother was a Moon by birth but she and her two sisters were raised in New York state. Glens Falls, perhaps, but a name with "Falls" in it. Her sister Gladys settled in North Adams, Mass and there raised her family. Gladys had two daughters; Cathy and Yevon. The other sister whose name, I think, was Florence moved to California and never married to my knowledge. However, Florence did have a son whose father we know nothing about, so perhaps was illegitimate. I don't believe the sisters had any brothers though. The woman who raised my father was named Dorothy and bore the unique lavender eye color. She had several pregnancies but always miscarried preterm. Gram never spoke of her childhood or her parents and seldom of her sisters though few visits were had with sister Gladys from over the Berkshire Mts. Gram lived in Greenfield Mass nearly all her adult life but I don't know anything about her parents. I know she seemed VERY proud of her maiden name MOON and that's the name on her tombstone in Greenfield. Gram had a bone condition causing her left foot to be several inches shorter than the other and wore a special shoe all her life. Also, they were very short women. Gram was maybe 5'8" tall. Gladys maybe 5'. Florence I only met once and she always sat when I was there so I couldn't even guess her height. On the other hand my dad was 6'6" tall. My siblings and children have manifested some congenital ailments over the years so I've begun digging into the racial background of the family. My e-mail is tammy.wydra@yahoo.com if you wish more. This isn't much help to you but I'm sooooo curious!
