According to his army record (1711) Robert WORTLEY was born in Narrabri, New South Wales. Father named as Frank WORTLEY. Robert was 30 years and six months old when he joined the Army in 1916 so we have a birth year of circa 1886.
Robert died 1959 in Gunnedah, New South Wales.
Parents named as Francis and Ruth Elizabeth.
N.S.W. Death Reg. #27289/1959.
There is no Robert WORTLEY recorded in the West Terrace Cemetery in South Australia. There was a George Barry WORTLEY buried there in 1965 aged 88 years, but I doubt if he was the brother of Robert.
Roberts parents:
Francis Louis WORTLEY and Ruth Elizabeth TALBOT were married in Coonabarabran, New South Wales in 1880.
N.S.W. Marriage Reg. #3033/1880.
Francis and Ruth had eight children in N.S.W. Five were born in Narrabri, but no Robert or George Barry recorded.
There was a Robert WORTLEY and Edna E HANNON married in Randwick, N.S.W. in 1930 but not sure if it's the same Robert.
N.S.W. Marriage Reg. #10602/1930.
These are just a few details I picked up today for Robert WORTLEY. Service number 1711.
The George Barry WORTLEY buried West Terrace Cemetery died in the Hillcrest Hospital in South Australia on 03 June 1956, aged 88 years. His father was named as James Howard WORTLEY so he was not the brother of Robert WORTLEY.
George married Grace Augusta FOREMAN 12 July 1929 in Glenelg, South Australia.
Their daughter, Edna Joyce Allison WORTLEY was born 21 November 1916 in Royal Park, South Australia. Edna married Sylvester CHERRY in the Registry Office, Adelaide on the 28 November 1932. She gave her age as 18 years. Sylvester was aged 38 years.
Is this the George Barry WORTLEY you think was the brother of Robert WORTLEY?

Hi Tokin. Francis and Ruth Wortley could have had 9 children Christina (my great grandmother), Francis, Lena, Sydney, Melbourne"Robert", Micheal, John, Vincent (Died WW1 lied about age and parents names)and Samuel. Christina and Lena married Barwicks which is my surname. Melbourne "Robert" Wortley was born 1887 died 1959.
