finding the Payan's

Im trying to get an idea where my family comes from. My grandfather payan is from chihuahua, Mexico. He is on his death bed as I write this and can not tell me the info I wish to know. He lost his memory sometime ago, though I still talk to him every so often I visit. My father tells me we are one of the three family payans from mexico and I would like to know of which one. If you need more info just let me know. Thanks.

There are many resources available to you, mostly for free, but these two sites will get you started. At link below, read GETTING STARTED WITH FAMILY HISTORY.
FamilySearch.org - The largest collection of free family history, family tree and genealogy records in the world
Search for your ancestors. Type in PAYAN in the surname field, choose country MEXICO from drop down list, then press search.
Also try SurnameNavigator.org select country MEXICO, then type in PAYAN, then press search. 12 window boxes will open up for of information for you to peruse.

allycat on 2007-04-11 23:26:23Ah, here's a bit more... sometimes genealogy can snowball into a great big heap of information. Make sure you have an idea where to start storing all your information, pretty soon you won't be able to keep up with it all and you will have to computerise it all.
